The Pity of War

Theatre Rue are currently working with script writer Gwynne Edwards and several other voice artists and sound designers to produce his latest script Wilfred Owen The Pity of War as a audio play / book.
The piece focuses on Wilfred Owen's war time experiences from the trenches through to his treatment and recovery from shell shock at Craiglochhart Military Hospital where he meets and befriends Siegfried Sassoon, to his return to the front where he receives a Military Cross
“For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the attack on the Fonsomme Line on 1st/2nd October 1918. On the company commander becoming a casualty he assumed command and showed fine leadership and resisted a heavy counter-attack. He personally manipulated a captured enemy machine gun in an isolated position and inflicted considerable losses on the enemy. Throughout he behaved most gallantly.”
The piece concludes with Wilfred Owen's sad but gallant death. He was killed in action on November 4th 1918. One week before the end of hostilities, his Mother received notification of his death on Armistice Day when the once silent church bells all across the UK rang out in celebration of the allies’ victory.
Wilfred Owen - The Pity of War will be available for distribution in the summer 2013
